As Namie is on tour until late January, there hasn't been much to report as far as news, so the very most I can do is keep up with Oricon and all their tedious charts >< But anyway, I have kept up with Oricon's website and have collected Namie's 2008 status.
EDIT: Oricon DVD Year-end sales are up.
Namie Amuro is officially the #4 best-selling artist of 2008 with being the only female artist of the year to go platinum, let alone as fast as she did.
The artists that take the 1, 2, and 3 spots are EXILE, Ayumi Hamasaki, and B'z; in that order. EXILE has four albums on the official Yearly album list at places 1, 4, 5, and 14 and Ayumi Hamasaki has only her best album A Complete ~All Singles~ at #8.
And BEST FICTION, as we know, is at #2.
She would've been placed much lower if what we're going to call the 'Second Amuro boom' hadn't jump-started with 60s, 70s, 80s which just started Namie's second rise to the top.
And speaking of which, 60s, 70s, 80s is also placed at #18 on the Yearly Singles chart.
The PLAY Tour DVD, however, has the lowest ranking this year, ranked at #25 with 128,295 sales.
This year has been a quite landslide for Namie. She proved she's still the Queen of Hip-Pop and we all hope for even better sales in 2009 in our new year wishes!
Oh, and lastly, Namie won't be appearing in the 59th Kouhaku Utagassen year-end event for the fourth year in a row! She will be spending her new years' eve elsewhere, most likely overseas or with her son, or both.
Happy Holidays everyone, and a Happy New Year!
